International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women's achievements or rally for women's equality.

国际妇女节是一个全球性的节日，庆祝女性在社会、经济、文化和政治方面所取得的成就。这一天也标志着呼吁加快性别平等的运动。在世界范围内，人们聚集在一起庆祝女性的成就或为争取女性平等而集会。

Marked annually on March 8th, IWD is one of the most important days of the year to:

• celebrate women's achievements

• educate and raise awareness for women's equality

• call for positive change advancing women

• lobby for accelerated gender parity

• Fund raise for female-focused charities

每年的3月8日是国际妇女节，是一年中最重要的日子之一，这一天:

What's the IWD 2023 campaign theme?

The campaign theme for 2022 is #Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.

The theme for 2023 International Women’s Day is, “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”. This theme is aligned with the priority theme for the upcoming 67th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW-67), “Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”.

2022年活动的主题是#今日的性别平等，为了创造可持续的明天。

2023年国际妇女节的主题是“数字包容:创新和技术促进性别平等”。这一主题与即将召开的妇女地位委员会(CSW-67)第67届会议的重点主题一致，即“数字化时代的创新、教育与技术变革、推动实现性别平等和赋权妇女与女童”。

Purple, green and white are the colors of International Women's Day. Purple signifies justice and dignity, and being loyal to the cause. Green symbolizes hope. White represents purity, albeit a controversial concept.

How is IWD celebrated in China?

In China, International Women’s Day is celebrated by showing women lots of love and respect. Employed women are officially entitled to a half working day on 8th March each year. Men treat women with special surprises, gifts, cards and flowers on this day and show their love for the women in their lives. Some discussions, important meetings and award ceremonies related to women are also held in a few parts of the country.

在中国，人们庆祝妇女节的方式是表达对女性的爱和尊重。在每年的3月8日，女性雇员可以享受半天的假期。在这一天，男性会给女性特别的惊喜、礼物、卡片和鲜花，表达他们对生命中女性的爱。一些与女性有关的辩论、重要会议和颁奖典礼也在全国少数地区举行。
